Miranda graduated from Cornell University in 2022 with a BSc in Environment & Sustainability and a concentration in Wildlife & Fisheries Management. As an undergrad, she discovered her strong interest in freshwater ecology and conservation. Before enrolling in the UCT Conservation Biology MSc course, Miranda worked as a fisheries technician for an aquatic resources consulting firm in Denver, Colorado. As a fisheries technician, she stocked private water bodies with trout and other sports fish throughout Colorado and created management plans for clients to improve the health of their lake/stream ecosystems. Miranda is incredibly excited to participate in the MSc Conservation Biology course, and her MSc project, supervised by Dr. Jeremy Shelton and Dr. Colin Attwood, focuses on the mechanical removal of Spotted Bass from the Breekkrans River. After her dissertation, Miranda aims to use her new skills and knowledge to conserve freshwater systems at a global level.
