Another enjoyable and successful SASS training course comes to a close after two days of learning about sampling methods, insect identifications and data sheets. SASS (the South African Scoring System) effectively uses the aquatic invertebrates living in streams to produce a rapid and repeatable estimate ecosystem health. Over 10 000 SASS records have been collected from South African streams over the past two decades, providing river managers a valuable conservation resource. Thanks to everyone who joined in and helped to make it such a fun and educational event! The FRC runs SASS training courses on a regular basis. Please contact Helen Dallas for more information & keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming training and accreditation courses.
