Daniel grew up in the Garden Route, where a love for fishing and the outdoors was instilled. He completed his undergraduate and Honors degrees in Biodiversity and Ecology at Stellenbosch University. He is currently doing his MSc in Zoology at Stellenbosch University, focusing on the impacts of invasive fish on endemic Ghost frog species. He is a member of the MeaseyLab in the Centre of excellence for Invasion Biology (CIB). He aspires to establish himself as a researcher in eco-toxicology to protect endemic South African fish species.
